2024: Historic First Strike by DHL Warehouse Workers for Fair Pay and Union Rights

In 2024, DHL warehouse workers made company history with their first coordinated national strike across NSW and Victoria, involving 1,200 workers demanding real cost-of-living pay rises and challenging the company’s anti-union tactics. Members of our are fighting for a new standard for respect and fairness across the logistics industry.

In September 2024, DHL warehouse workers in New South Wales and Victoria made history with their first-ever strike action, demanding a cost-of-living pay rise and the right to union representation without intimidation. Around 1200 members of our union walked off the job, standing firm against substandard wages and anti-union tactics from a global logistics giant. These workers, who manage logistics for major brands and essential medical supplies, are calling for a 7 annual wage increase in NSW and a 10 increase in Victoria, where wages are notably lower. This powerful action has set a precedent in the logistics sector, underscoring the strength of our union in challenging inequitable practices and ensuring that frontline logistics workers receive fair treatment and respect.

The cost of living has exploded: everything has gone up, petrol, mortgage, bills, food prices and workers are really struggling. But DHL is doing well, theyve really profited over the pandemic. We know they could afford to give us a wage increase that meets the cost of living now and its not too much to ask, its what we as workers need for our lives and for our families.
