In early 2022 aged care workers highlighted publicly the terrible conditions they were facing as the Omicron wave swept through aged care facilities, residents died in large numbers and understaffed workers worked double and triple shifts just to keep up. In May, 2022 days before the Federal election aged care workers put the Coalition Governments failures in aged care on the national stage when aged care workers across Australia took their first coordinated national strike action.
